Wood shaping
Unlike all the new Hi-Tech plastic materials, wood is still considered by furniture craftsmen as a living thing which can be modeled and shaped by skilled human hands. One if its main characteristics is its ability to soften and become more pliable when subjected to high temperatures or humidity. In shipbuilding, for example, to give it the shape of the keel, a solid wooden beam is subjected to a steam bath while, at the same time, it is shaped by presses. For that purpose, Ghidini steam generators have been requested to produce the heat and humidity needed for woodworking and to allow craftsmen to obtain the desired shapes.
